Monkey Food event, KP Club, Kilnwick Percy

Last night we attended what was essentially a dessert cooking competition amongst some of the regions top chefs and restaurants.

My description hardly does the event justice, as we were treated to half a dozen of the tastiest, best presented, sexiest looking desserts from around Yorkshire.

It was then the enviable task of the 40 diners to adjudicate, evaluate, assess and score the six desserts, to arrrive at the winning chef and venue.

The winners last night were Neil and Mada Wharton from www.inspiration-beverley.com , although I suspect there will be a serious fightback from the other top chefs at the next competition.

The event was hosted by Paul Hannon of The KP Club, Kilnwick Percy, and the guests were entertained by Flamenco Dancers between the main course and the dessert courses.

All in all, a fabulous evening, have a look below at the mouthwatering offerings.

Katie and Simon - pre wedding portrait shoot at the studio

What a fabulous time of year to have your portrait taken.  Katie and Simon came over to the studio for their pre wedding portrait session last weekend, and I've posted some of the images here.
I love the warmth in these, despite the cold weather, and the Christmassy feel to them.

Katie and Simon are getting married in March at St Gregorys Church, Kirkdale and afterwards at The Old Lodge, Malton.

Fireworks at Hazlewood Castle, Leeds

Chris and Linsey relax during their wedding

Chris and Linsey during the Hallelujah serenade in Hazlewood Castle Chapel during the service

Fireworks at Hazlewood Castle

From time to time I have seen photographs of fireworks at Hazlewood Castle, and whilst we've photographed fireworks all over North Yorkshire at venues like
Ripley Castle, Swinton Park, and Rudding Park to name a few, we have never come across them at Hazlewood Castle until recently.

Fireworks are notoriously difficult to photograph, get the exposure too long, and all you get is heavy white streaks in the image, whereas what you really need is some colour. If the exposure is too short, you just get the odd blip of colour, but no shape or pattern to the display.

Linsey and Chris had an action packed wedding, culminating in a fireworks display for all their guests.

Linsey's dad built in a few surprises for the couple on the day, which included Elvis singing to guests during the speeches, a chimney sweep for luck, doves were released after the meal, and the main members of the bridal party had planned a choregraphed dance routine which they performed as an extension to the first dance.

During the service, Chris and Linsey were serenaded by a group who sang Hallelujah from the balcony of Hazlewood Castle Chapel, this was one of my favourite parts of the day, together with some quiet time with the bride and groom in the afternoon, and of course, the fireworks. A very full but very enjoyable wedding at Hazlewood Castle.
